ROCHESTER, NEW YORK, Aug. 03, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Syntec Optics Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: OPTX), a leading provider of deep tech for the defense, space, AI data center, and other vibrant end-markets, today announced it hit a landmark milestone.

Syntec received a wave of new fusion orders—worth 7 times more than orders received late last year. Syntec continues to add industry-leading customers at the cutting-edge. In this recurring order, Syntec will make special optics used in the world's most compact, record-breaking fusion reactors that get way hotter than the Sun.

Computers that run artificial intelligence (AI) take up a mind-boggling amount of electricity. To help keep them running without hurting our communities and neighborhoods, big tech companies are turning to clean new forms of energy.

Why fusion? Unlike old-fashioned nuclear power plants that split atoms, fusion squeezes them together. If anything ever goes wrong, the machine just instantly turns off—meaning no meltdowns. Plus, it runs on ingredients we can easily get from ocean water, so we will never run out of fuel. Pioneers use powerful magnets like an invisible "bottle" to trap that super-hot, sun-like fire right in mid-air so it doesn't melt the whole machine.

Since entering the market over the past two years, Syntec has reached $4 million in orders for high-tech gear used in data centers—like fusion tech, super-accurate micro-connectors, and space-power sub-systems. To keep up the momentum, Syntec is allocating 5% of the factory just to build AI data center optics for the long haul.

For 25 years, the expert engineers at Syntec have been solving super-tough puzzles. For fusion reactors, Syntec cracked the code on making hyper-accurate optics that act like mission-critical eyes so pioneers can safely know the extreme conditions inside these glowing, burning fusion fires.

"Space optical links and AI-connected battlefield gear represent the cutting edge of modern growth," said Matt Carey. "Adding to our expanding portfolio, we proved in Q4 2025 that we have the mastery to deliver the extreme precision optics required for fusion energy."

Syntec is jumping into this massive market because building optics for these futuristic fusion reactors is a huge business opportunity that helps create limitless, clean energy for the future.

Dean Rudy, Syntec CFO, said, "Tech giants are purchasing millions of watts of fusion star power—and using next-level AI to hack the reactor controls to accelerate the production timeline. That’s a total game-changer, and that is why fusion optics is a significant part of our game plan."

Goldman Sachs estimates energy needs will double next year from 2025 levels. IDTechEx estimates investments in fusion energy have now jumped to $9 billion.
