Miroslav Mikeš crowned as first FACE OFF champion in Buggyra ZM Racing’s innovative driver development program

Buggyra ZM Racing concluded their 2025 circuit racing season with the final round of the GT Cup Series at Brno in front of their home crowd last weekend.

-- The renowned Brno track crowned the first-ever champion of Buggyra ZM Racing's innovative FACE OFF program in the GT4 class: 16-year-old Czech talent Miroslav Mikeš. In addition, Buggyra ZM Racing driver Aliyyah Koloc continued her learning curve in the GT3 class.

The FACE OFF initiative is Buggyra ZM Racing’s innovative driver development program, designed to test Buggyra Academy drivers in equal AMG-Mercedes GT4 cars under real race conditions, with the aim of identifying and shaping the strongest young talent.

Miroslav Mikeš dominated the battle among young drivers behind the wheel of AMG-Mercedes GT4 cars, scoring 113 points. Second place went to Filip Nedoma with 71 points. In the team standings, the #55 car (Adam Lacko and Miroslav Mikeš) topped the leaderboard with 219 points, followed closely by the #29 car (Martin Hudec and Filip Nedoma) with 198 points.

“The FACE OFF program aimed to challenge every member of the team. We placed rookies in a real racing environment, and we ultimately identified the best-performing academy driver — someone we are confident we’ll hear more about in the future. Many thanks to everyone involved: the drivers, mechanics, and the entire support team,” said FACE OFF manager Jan Koubek.

A hard-fought battle until the very last race made the victory all the sweeter for Mikeš: “I’m very happy with this result. The FACE OFF program was a fantastic experience, and we constantly motivated and pushed each other forward. I’m proud to have won and I look forward to future plans with Buggyra ZM Racing,” said Miroslav Mikeš.

Adrenaline-fueled racing

The racing weekend began for the Academy drivers with Saturday’s sprint race, where Adam Lacko finished second and Martin Hudec came third. “I had a slightly slow start, then I tried to keep up with Adam. After the safety car came out, some prototypes and Porsches got between us, so I focused on securing my position to the finish,” explained Martin Hudec.

Adam Lacko capped off a successful day by winning his class in the evening endurance race. He shared the car with Miroslav Mikeš, who earned valuable FACE OFF points in the process. “I built about a ten-second lead, but the safety car neutralized it. I handed the car over while still in the lead, and Míroslav delivered a strong 18-minute stint,” said Adam Lacko.

The pairing of Martin Hudec and Filip Nedoma finished sixth. “The safety car gave a lap back to all our rivals ahead of us, but left us behind. We pushed hard and took the risks, yet others were effectively given a free lap. I just don’t understand it,” Martin Hudec voiced his frustration.

Although Filip Nedoma was scheduled to start Sunday’s sprint race, project chief engineer Yasmeen Koloc made a strategic change to replace him with Martin Hudec, who finished in fifth place. Miroslav Mikeš took second place, thus sealing his title in the FACE OFF program.

“Míroslav started from the back, but he took the lead in the first lap. In the final corner, a BMW pushed him a little, but that’s racing. Míroslav now knows how to drive with speed as well as strategy. As his mentor, I am delighted,” said Adam Lacko, who currently leads the GT Cup Series sprint standings, followed by Martin Hudec, Miroslav Mikeš, and Filip Nedoma.

Another lesson in GT3

Following her debut in Most, Aliyyah Koloc once again got behind the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS GT3 with the FULLINRACE by INTERACTION team.

In Saturday’s sprint race, she initially crossed the finish line and stood on the podium with a 3rd-place trophy, but a post-race penalty for a collision with another driver dropped her to seventh in her class. In the endurance race, she partnered with experienced Petr Fulín, narrowly missing the podium, with the Audi finishing fourth in the GT3 classification.

“It wasn’t my strongest weekend. I feel comfortable driving in Most, but I am still learning the Brno circuit. I enjoyed driving the Audi, but I’m not very happy with the results. The sprint race penalty felt unjustified, and even the stewards acknowledged this after we showed our onboard footage, but it was too late to change anything. This was my last GT3 race weekend for this season, and I will now fully concentrate just on one category: rally raids,” Aliyyah Koloc concluded.
