Takeda Presents Late-Breaking Data from Phase 2b Study of Mezagitamab, Demonstrating Potential to Transform Treatment of Primary Immune Thrombocytopenia
Takeda (TSE:4502/NYSE:TAK) today presented positive results from its Phase 2b, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study evaluating the safety, tolerability and efficacy of mezagitamab (TAK-079) in patients with persistent or chronic primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), a rare immune-mediated bleeding disorder. ITP is characterized by the accelerated destruction of platelets in blood, resulting in a decreased platelet count and an increase of bleeding that can be debilitating. These data (Abstract #LB 01.1) were presented at the oral Late-Breakthrough Session at the 32nd Congress of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) in Bangkok, Thailand. Takeda plans to initiate a global Phase 3 trial of mezagitamab in patients with ITP in the second half of FY2024.
Takeda Receives Approval from European Commission for FRUZAQLA in Previously Treated Metastatic Colorectal Cancer
Takeda (TSE:4502/NYSE:TAK) today announced that the European Commission (EC) approved FRUZAQLA (fruquintinib) as a monotherapy indicated for the treatment of adult patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) who have been previously treated with available standard therapies, including fluoropyrimidine-, oxaliplatin-, and irinotecan-based chemotherapies, anti-VEGF agents, and anti-EGFR agents, and who have progressed on or are intolerant to treatment with either trifluridine-tipiracil or regorafenib. The decision follows a positive opinion from the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) on April 25, 2024, and approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for adults with mCRC who have been previously treated with oxaliplatin- and irinotecan-based regimens on November 8, 2023.1,2

Takeda (TSE:4502/NYSE:TAK) today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the supplemental New Drug Application (sNDA) for ICLUSIG® (ponatinib) for the treatment of adult patients with newly diagnosed Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL) in combination with chemotherapy. This indication is approved under accelerated approval based on minimal residual disease (MRD)-negative complete remission (CR) at the end of induction. Continued approval for this indication may be contingent upon verification and description of clinical benefit in confirmatory trials. This accelerated approval application was granted Priority Review and evaluated under the Real-Time Oncology Review (RTOR) program, an FDA initiative designed to expedite the delivery of cancer medicines by allowing components of an application to be reviewed before submission of the complete application.

Limited (BE), a leading India-based Vaccines and Pharmaceutical Company, today announced a strategic partnership to accelerate access to QDENGA®▼ (Dengue Tetravalent Vaccine [Live, Attenuated]) (TAK-003) multi-dose vials (MDVs). These doses will ultimately be made available for procurement by governments in endemic countries by 2030 at the latest to support National Immunization Programs. MDVs offer economic and logistical advantages for National Immunization Programs by minimizing packaging and storage expenses, while also reducing medical and environmental waste. BE will ramp up to a manufacturing capacity of up to 50 million doses a year, accelerating Takeda’s efforts to manufacture 100 million doses a year within the decade. The partnership will build upon existing manufacturing capacity for the vaccine at Takeda’s facility in Singen, Germany and Takeda’s long-term partnership with IDT Biologika GmbH.

Takeda Receives U.S. FDA Approval of FRUZAQLA™ (fruquintinib) for Previously Treated Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

ADCETRIS is an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) directed at CD30, a defining marker of Hodgkin lymphoma, and has been previously approved as a therapy for adult patients in Europe in six distinct indications, including those with previously untreated CD30+ Stage IV Hodgkin lymphoma. The decision follows a positive opinion from the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) on September 14, 2023.

Takeda Provides Update on EXKIVITY® (mobocertinib)

Takeda intends to similarly initiate voluntary withdrawal globally where EXKIVITY is approved and is working with regulators in other countries where it is currently available on next steps.
U.S. FDA Approves Subcutaneous Administration of Takeda's ENTYVIO® (vedolizumab) for Maintenance Therapy in Moderately to Severely Active Ulcerative Colitis

Additionally, a Biologics License Application for an investigational SC administration of ENTYVIO for the treatment of adults with moderately to severely active Crohn’s disease is currently under review by the FDA.

Takeda (TSE:4502/NYSE:TAK) today announced positive topline results from its randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multiple-dose Phase 2b trial evaluating TAK-279, an investigational oral allosteric tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2) inhibitor with next generation selectivity, in people with active psoriatic arthritis. The study met its primary endpoint with a greater proportion of patients treated once-daily with TAK-279 achieving at least a 20 percent improvement in signs and symptoms of disease (American College of Rheumatology 20 response) at week 12 compared to placebo, supporting its potential as a highly selective oral option for patients with psoriatic arthritis.1 The safety and tolerability profile of TAK-279 in the Phase 2b trial was consistent with previous TAK-279 clinical trials.1 Analysis of the results are ongoing, and Takeda plans to present clinical results at an upcoming medical meeting.

Takeda (TSE:4502/NYSE:TAK) today announced full results from the pivotal Phase 3 ADVANCE-CIDP 1 clinical trial investigating HYQVIA® [Immune Globulin Infusion 10% (Human) with Recombinant Human Hyaluronidase] as maintenance therapy in adult patients with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP). Results showed a clinically significant reduction in relapse rate with HYQVIA vs placebo (9.7% versus 31.4%, respectively; p = 0.0045) and other analysis showed delayed time to relapse with HYQVIA vs. placebo. The company also observed favorable data across other endpoints from the study and favorable tolerability. These findings were presented at the 2023 Peripheral Nerve Society (PNS) Annual Meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark on June 20, 2023, and simultaneously published in the Journal of the Peripheral Nervous System (JPNS).
